About the Panelists:

Fransiska Anggraini was a journalist for 20 years before she decided to jump on the sociopreneur bandwagon, setting up Awesome Lasem in 2019, a year after she visited Lasem for a weekend getaway. She fell in love with the small town in Central Java, its people, its food, and its batiks that it was like finding a new life calling for her. Selling solely Lasemese batik online through storytelling and strict curations, she works closely with 15 ateliers in Lasem and Pancur.

Ratna Setiawati is the daughter-in-law of Ibu Ninik Masruni Masina, the owner of Batik Ninik Ichsan in Cirebon. Ratna focuses on the Business Development of Batik Ninik Ichsan who produces premium handmade batik in both modern and traditional designs. Batik Ninik Ichsan is one of the batik artisans who received a Gold Batik Mark Certification from Balai Besar Kerajinan dan Batik.

Lutfi Koriah Yunani is the Founder of Cemethik Studio, a brand that is focused on the preservation of traditional hand-drawn batik culture from Klaten, Central Java. Kori has been exploring batik making since 2013 when she was still in high school. After her graduation from Indonesian Arts Institute of Yogyakarta in 2019, Kori started her brand Cemethik Studio and works hand in hand with the artisans from Jarum Village in Bayat, Klaten.

About the Moderator:

Tony Sugiarta is the Director and Curator of aNERDgallery, a Singapore-based art platform that specialises in presenting new narratives and contemporary artworks that utilises the concept, technique or medium of Indonesian batik or tenun woven cloths. Tony leads the development of engaging activities, including exhibitions and workshops, to initiate discussion around contemporary topics involving heritage arts and culture.
