Hybridity – a familiar concept in Singapore – is the ‘third space’ that is formed through social integration and negotiations among different identities. These intricate dances of self-internalisation and intercultural interactions create vibrant and multifaceted expressions that are reflected not only in art and language, but also in our material cultures.

Discover the rich tapestry of these interactions in Asam di Gunung, Garam di Laut as we dive into stories of migration, interethnic relationships, intergenerational expectations and many more! Learn the different strategies employed by the artists as they rediscover and negotiate these intersections so as to foster a shared hybrid identity in our multicultural Singapore.
